Loqmato - Arabic fusion dessert
When I heard the name Loqmato, I could relate to it being something of an Arabic dessert, and was excited to see what is it when I was invited to try it out.
It is basically made from two words - Loqma (or Luqaimat which is an Arabic dessert) and the Cioccolato (chocolate in Italian), hence Loqmato which is exactly what the concept is.
They basically have a Luqaimat which is injected with a flavour of your choice and then topped with some delicious sweet toppings.
You have four choices for injections:
- Chocolate
- Crema (which is a bit like profiteroles)
- Caramel
- Cheese
There are a wide variety of toppings to choose from.
They also have some pre-set combinations in the menu which taste really nice and we tried these.
Loqmato White: Crema injection; topped with white chocolate hot sauce and Oreo. This is for those who like the Oreo flavours and the sweetness of the white chocolate. It also had some coconut on top.
Loqmato Chocolate: Chocolate and Nutella injection; topped with milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate, nuts, and Lotus. As you must have guessed, this is really sweet, and just one of this was enough for me.
Loqmato Honey: Crema injection; topped with honey, cinnamon, nuts. This is their bestseller. It is mildly sweet.
Loqmato Caramel: Caramel injection; milk chocolate, nuts, almonds. This was pretty good too, but wouldn't be my top choice.
Loqmato Cheese: Cheese injection; covered with sesame and honey. This was my favourite one especially since I like savoury things more than sweet. This isn't completely, but the cheese is. Covered with honey and sesame, I really liked this combination and it doesn't get too sweet either.
There are a lot of more toppings that you can choose from.
They also have very good Turkish tea, as well as a refreshing tangy lemonade if things get too sweet for you.
It is a small outlet in the food court with very limited seating.
I liked the fact that the kitchen is see-through and you're able to see your ordered being prepared.
