This restaurant is located on the ground floor of Hotel President in Karama. I was under the impression that this is a purely south Indian restaurant but when I was invited to try out the food, I found out that they also serve some lovely North Indian fusion starters as well as Indo-Chinese food.
We started with some mocktails. I had the watermelon juice which which nice and fresh. They also have blue curacao mojito, orange juice, as well as alcoholic cocktails.
For appetisers, we started with dahi ke sholay. Crispy from the outside and soft and creamy on the inside, these vegetarian kebabs tasted really good.
Then we had the double dhingri which has spinach and cheese stuffed in between two mushroom and has a marination of mustard and yoghurt. These tasted cheesy and delicious.
Another amazing starter was the stuffed cheesy mushroom. It had a really flavourful orange sauce that it was prepared in and if you're a cheese lover, you should definitely try this.
We then had the threaded chicken. This was chicken with a crispy threaded coating outside it, and we had it with schezwan sauce. The chicken was a bit hard, and though it looked appealing initially, I didn't enjoy it much.
An interesting starter was the mango pudina chicken tikka. The combination gave it a really nice taste and it was something a bit different.
We also had some grilled prawns and fish. These were served with the grill and had a lovely smokey flavour to it.
They also have some combos which are very reasonable priced. They start at just AED 20 and go up to AED 25 (except for the tandoori chicken one which is priced at 30). The combos include a starter, a curry, a dry dish, roti, rice, dessert.
I tried the non-veg Chinese combo, and it was not bad, but I did expect a little better. The quantity though was really good especially given the price.
The curry from the chicken combo as well as the mutton combo tasted really good. It is south Indian style and that's what they're primarily known for.
For the dessert, we had crispy honey noodles with ice-cream. It is a nice combination. You get the sweet and crispy noodles, along with the ice-cream.
We also had an assortment of ice-creams which were good enough.
Overall, I would say that if you're looking for a place that's reasonably priced and has a good variety of dishes, then you can definitely check this out. It serves alcohol too!
