karak and rigag

Given the name, one might think that they mostly serve only karak tea, but they're definitely much more than that.
I had been here a few times before, but all I had was tea; this time though they invited me to try out a lot more items from their menu and I was pleasantly surprized when they turned out to be really yummy.

We started with one of their mocktails (which have interesting names). It was the bubble gum mini cooper. From the name it might sound like a shake, but it isn't. This is an orange based drink which has a flavour of bubble gum; and was quite good.

We moved on to the starters that they're famous for - no points for guessing - the rigag. I can loosely define rigag as an Arabic dish that is made from extremely thin filo dough, something like the Indian dosa. It can be had with different fillings - sweet as well as savoury.

We tried one of their hot-sellers which was the chicken pizza rigag. When there's pizza you can't really go wrong. This one tasted really delicious; actually like a chicken pizza, but without the pizza base (wrapped in thin rigag instead). I definitely recommend trying this one.

Another one that we had was the cheese Oman chips rigag. This one too was very well made, and was cheesy too. I quite liked it.

They also recommended their mutton sheekh kebabs They have a platter as well as a roll. We had both of these. The kebabs were the same in both dishes, but the platter was served with some parathas on the side which were crispy.

The kebabs were juicy, albeit a tad bit dry from the inside; nothing to complain about. They had an amazing taste overall.

The chef also prepared us one of his special salads. This one was made with Oman chips and was very different from any salads I've had. It had  some cream, peppers, corn, olives, guacamole, cabbage and some salsa. I couldn't keep my hands off this one.

They have some nice desserts too. They got us their cocktail pancakes. It is called "cocktail" since it comes with different flavours like lotus, Nutella et al. With generous amounts of these sweet toppings on it, we just couldn't stop at one bite; this was indulgent. I surely recommend this one too.

Another dessert which we had was the brownie fantasy. It comes with a few layers of ice-creams, and of-course brownies. This one also was nice, but the pancakes overshadowed this one.

Our meal would be incomplete without one of their teas. So we had the regular masala tea. It was a little on the sweeter side and had some spices in it too. Felt great in this lovely weather.

They have seating outside as well as inside. This place is great for a full meal, or even a quick bite; certainly much more than just karak tea.
