Eggspectation - City Walk

Eggspectation is more than just an egg place. They have some good burgers, pastas, flatbreads, salads, and juices too.

I was invited here for a cooking and tasting session with their executive chef Rohan. I had a hot cup of latte as I waited there for our session to start.

They have two outlets - JBR, and this one which is in City Walk. The kitchen of this one is smaller as compared to the one in JBR, but is really clean and hygienic.

Chef Rohan started off with the omelette and made it look really easy. Then we moved on to the poached eggs, and he gave us tips about the amount of vinegar you need to add in the water to get a perfectly poached egg. He also showed us how to make a flatbread from scratch. Then we moved on to the savoury crepe and last but not the least - the s'mores french toast (which I will cover later in this post).

Omelettes can have a lot of different variations,  but I haven't seen one that looks as good as the one served to us here. It was called the southwest sunrise. It has cheddar, Swiss and Gruyere cheese, peppers, and it topped with a generous amount of avocado, as well as some salsa and sour cream. Avocado fans are sure to go crazy over this one. The omelette itself was fluffy and we really liked it.

They also have some good burgers here and we had the bbq burger. This contains crispy beef bacon, cheddar cheese, bbq sauce, and onion rings. The meat tasted really juicy in this one and wasn't overpowered by the other things in there, and that's what made it really nice.

As I said earlier in this post, they have salads too, and we had the Greek country-style salad which is a classic. This one also had watermelon, apart from the generous amount of feta cheese and the usual veggies. It was really fresh.

Our chef for the day - Rohan, taught us to make the flatbread, and it was the Mediterranean  flatbread. It had a base of tomato sauce, and was topped with red pepper, olive, grilled eggplant and feta cheese. The grilled eggplant have a bit of a smokey flavour to it, and it was delicious overall.

After seeing the chef make the poached eggs like a pro, it would be a shame if we didn't have them. We had the Russian Rhapsody. The poached eggs are served on a bed of smoked beef bacon with Romanoff sauce, on a toasted English muffin. The presentation was totally on point and the taste too lived up to it.

They have some good smoothies too, and they recommended me the Honey Blue. This is a blueberry smoothie with banana, honey, and yoghurt. This one tasted fantastic. It was thick, and I could get all the flavours. Also, this one was rich in anti-oxidants.

To end one a sweet note, we had the S'mores French toast. The brioche is stuffed with marshmallows and Nutella (as opposed to chocolate used in most places). It is topped off with Canadian maple syrup and chocolate sauce. This was really soft, and especially when had hot, it felt really indulgent.

If you're looking for a place that has got their eggs right, and also something different from the usual egg places, this is the one to try.
