Oregano Italian restaurant

There are a lot of Italian restaurants coming up these days and each of them has their own speciality. What I found special about this place was the interiors. It is a bit rustic but not like the rustic interiors we see these days; it gives a feeling that the restaurant is from the Europe that was a few decades ago. It feels a bit cosy too (of-course this is if you're sitting inside).
When the invited me I thought this would just be another Italian restaurant but the interiors proved me wrong.

There is a huge variety of items in the menu and as we pondered upon what to order they got us some bread along with a couple of nice dips to munch on.

We started with some Arancini, i.e.  fried rice balls that were stuffed with baby shrimp and mozzarella. These were really cheesy and a bit crispy from the outside which I really liked. They were served with a pesto dip. The good thing is that this starter does not make you feel too full.

Among their wide variety of Pizzas we were looking for something that would cater specifically to what our taste buds were craving for. We finally narrowed down on the Pompei pizza. It had chicken sausages along with capsicum, onion, chilli, and mozzarella. This was exactly what we wanted. It was nothing out of the ordinary but something simple that was made really well.

They have some interesting gnocchi too and we ordered a Gnocchi con tonno. These were made  in pesto sauce along with tuna. This tasted a little dry despite the generous amount of pesto in it. The taste was not bad but that texture did not feel right.

For the sweet endings, I decided to go for the Cannoli siciliani. It is a dessert which had originated from Sicily and is shaped like a little tube (cannolo), and that's where it gets its name from. It is filled with creamy ricotta, candied oranges and chocolate chips. It tasted really good, though I've had better ones. It's a little different from the usual desserts that you must have had. If you want to try something different, you should definitely have this one.

For our second desert we resorted to the more traditional one - the Tiramisu. You cannot go wrong with the tiramisu. This one was a big piece; it was creamy and it definitely lived up to our expectations.

If you like outside seating, they've got that too. I saw a few office-goers sit there despite the weather being quite hot.
