Sthan - Food Beyond Borders
The word "sthaan" in Sanskrit means place; it is also used in the names of the countries - Hindustan, Pakistan, Afghanistan - among others. I mentioned these three specifically since that's where the restaurant gets its name from since it serves food from these three countries.
This restaurant started a few months ago and I've been hearing quite a bit about it, and wanting to go myself. Alas we decided to check it out the other day.
We ordered the dhaba murgh. A "dhaba" refers to the roadside outlets, and "murgh" is chicken. This was one of their specialities here. It is made with aromatic spices, and the chicken was really succulent.
One of my favourite desi dishes is the haleem; but it isn't something that everyone gets right. We decided to order one nonetheless, and it was superb. The consistency of this one as well as the flavour were both on point.
We had this along with butter naan (Indian bread).
For drinks, we had the goli soda which is an old Indian style of flavoured soda. It has a goli (a mini ball) which you need to press inside the bottle to open it.
They've got flavours like cola, orange, lemon etc.
Here's a video for reference if you're curious to know how they open the bottle.
We also had a biryani here - the Yakhni biryani. This one is an Afghani style of biryani. We could get the lovely aroma as soon as we opened the lid. The flavours were quite mild though; it had less masala. If you're used to the usual spicy one, then this might not be as expected, but if you're looking for mild flavours, then you can try it.
My friend saw a poster of "Jalebi ki chaat" and was really keen to order it. I was quite apprehensive as the photo looked as it was partially savoury. After much ado, we ordered it. It wasn't savoury at all. In fact it tasted really nice. It was jalebi with rabdi topped with sweet sev. Certainly worth a try.
They got the bill in an audio cassette box which brought back old memories. This place also accepts Zomato Gold, and we ended up getting one of the main dishes for free!

On that cassette box is the Hindi word for Thank You - Dhanyawaad.
