Rajdhani
It is the festive season of Diwali I was invited for their exclusive Diwali Preview. As soon as I entered, I noticed that it was huge and spacious. Even on a weekend, it wasn't hard to get a table. Parking though, can be a bit of a hassle on weekends.
As their tagline goes "ek khandani parampara", you get the feel from the very beginning when they help you wash your hands using a surai.
I noticed the thali has more katoris (bowls) than usual, and I was eagerly waiting to see the wide variety.
The bikaneri ghugra was something I totally loved. It is shaped like a gujia, but has a savory filling inside.
For the Indian breads they had a few types. A phulka, which is served hot and fresh, a bhakri, on which they insisted putting some ghee and jaggery, a puri that was crispy, and a small puran poli.
Along with this were numerous vegetables - palak paneer, a mix vegetable, dry potato, gatte ka saag and a couple more. Oh, and there was dal batti too which was very good. There are also two dals and a kadhi along with this. The dal and the kadhi tasted delicious.
There was a papad churi (crushed papad) as a snack as well !
After this there is rice too - Khichadi as well as pulav. Both of them were really very good. I especially liked the pulav which I was left asking for more.
For the sweets, again, there is variety. There was ras gulla, which was good, the malpua which didn't fail to impress, and the strawberry halwa which I totally loved - it wasn't overly sweet and I really like to have something like this after my meal.
Now we all know what we can expect more or less from a thali place, but I want to bring special attention to the fact that this place is very hygienic too. I visited the kitchen, met the chef and other staff who cook the food, and it looked great even out there. The hot phulkas were being made right in front of us, and the chefs were really humble, which makes me feel that they would really put a lot of love and effort while preparing the food. The food is not too oily or spicy and feels light on the stomach (of-course, the quantity and variety might fill you up).
A very good experience overall.

They started with a couple of starters. The kulfi dhokla and the bikaneri ghugra. The kulfi dhokla is so called because it is shaped like a kulfi. It was served with a few chutneys (sauces) and tasted really nice.
