Sikka Cafe

The name has a ring to it, and I was intrigued by that itself, so couln't wait to check it out.

As soon as you enter, you will notice the ambiance. It is lovely. There are a lot of antiques kept in there, and shades of golden / brown are used throughout the cafe. If feels kinda classy.

The got us a newspaper. Oh wait, that was the menu. It's nice to read through it when it is in this form.

We started with some light bites and this cold beverage whose photo caught my attention.

We ordered a sambousek. They are a portion of assorted ones - cheese, meat, and vegetable. The cheese sambousek tasted good, while the other two were just about okay. We were a bit taken aback when we saw only three pieces though - one of each.

The beverage was the "karak dates frappe". Sounded really interesting; and I'm someone who loves to try out new things, so we asked them to get one of this. It tasted pretty good. I quite liked it, though my friend didn't. I guess you need to develop a taste for this one. It is cold and has a hint of karak to it. You'll feel like you're having the Indian chai, but mostly sweet and cold. I couldn't possibly describe it accurately, but worth a shot if you like some experimenting.

Now comes the best dish of all - this one was gold. Quite literally. It was the 24 carat gold molten chocolate. This dish consists of a chocolate lava cake topped with a sheet of edible gold, and ice-cream on the side. This was heavenly. It was served hot; one dig, and the lava starts flowing out; and the gold made it all the more irresistible. Definitely try this out.

This place was calm and hardly any people there, so I liked the overall experience even more.
