Bhoujan

The name Bhoujan being a Sanskrit word for food gives a very inviting feel about this restaurant. I was looking forward to see what they've got to offer when they invited me.

The place is located in motor city, and the area has parking for visitors there. If you go past the restaurant a little further from the service road, you will see the parking entrance on the right side.

We started with some pani puri shots which looked really cool. I liked the fact that it had a potato filling which is the way I like it. The good thing is that the pani puri tasted good too. The puris were crunchy and the pani had the right amount of spiciness to it.

For drinks, we chose the masala chaas, which is one of my all time favourite drinks. This was a tad bit thicker than usual and tasted really good.

For soup, we had the dal shorba. It is similar to the lentil soup, but with the added Indian spices. The consistency was right and the flavours too. I really liked this one.

they've recently introduced some Goan specialities and they got us the chicken cafreal to try out. This is coated with a coriander based paste, and was interesting. However, I found the coriander paste overpowering the chicken. Also, the chicken was just acceptably soft; it could have been a little more softer.

I definitely like some good lamb chops, and so I wanted to try out theirs too. The portion size was quite good for two people. The chops were really flavourful, and you could feel the meaty chunkiness.

They got us their tandoori prawns to try out. The prawns were big, and that made it look very appealing. They were made with the shell on, so you had to remove that before having. This tasted quite good too.

When I saw tandoori chicken bombs on the menu, it caught my attention as I've never had this before. They are round in shape and initially looked like batata vadas. The coating outside is made from potato and inside is minced tandoori chicken. One bite, and it felt heavenly. This was undoubtedly the most delicious dish that I had here. The mild smokey flavours emanating from this really bring about the goodness of the chicken. You won't even need additional sauces / chutneys along with it.

We were almost full by now, so just ordered one main dish - the dhaba chicken. This was boneless chicken in a yellowish brown gravy. It has a mild spice level and also comes with pieces of boiled egg in it and I personally like that. The curry felt just; not too spicy or mild. The chicken could have been a bit softer though.

We had this along with the tandoori roti. It was thicker than usual and not exactly as expected.

The roomali roti was different too, but in a good way. It was thin and not rubbery, which made it enjoyable to have.

For the mains, they have kulfi in the menu but it wasn't available.

We had a masala chai in the end. The taste was not bad, but the texture was too milky.
