Tamarind Terrace

Ths is a newly started Kerala restaurant and they invited me to try out the food.
I really liked the ambience of this one. The theme is casual and it feels different, yet nice compared to similar other restaurants; somewhat like an old British style restaurant. The theme is further continued in the washrooms also that are impressively neat and tidy.

While we waited for our meal, they got us some papads to munch on.

For our soup, we had the Kozhi Vepplia Rasam. It is like a spicier version of Rasam that has chicken inside it. It was not only spicy, but also tangy; while it wasn't too spicy for the tongue, it surely was a bit spicy and sour for the throat. But if you like something with spices, then you'll definitely love it. It is served along with a fried bread which was really hard and chewy and we did not like it at all.

We started with one of the chicken starters - Kozhi Unakkamulagu. I liked the taste and the quantity of this one. It was flavourful.

Being a fan of prawn, I ordered for a prawn starter. The waiter recommended the Prawn Roast. This had the right amount of crunch and spices on it which I really liked. It is a dry starter. Also, it has 7 little pieces for about AED 16 which is pretty reasonable.

They have some newly introduced drinks and we had one of those - the Orange driver. It was refreshing.
I had the chutta mango sherbat which is roasted mango based drink along with some spices. It was something different for me, and I really enjoyed it.

For the mains, we had the Kozhi Peralan. I found the quantity a bit less and the masala was a lot. Also, it was quite similar to the chicken starter which we had, and despite asking the waiter for recommendations, I don't know why he suggested similar tasting dishes.

We had it along with appams which were soft, hot and fluffy.

For dessert, we had their vanilla milk cake. For a place like this, it was really very good.

The falooda was not too bad, but had more jelly in it than what we usually have.

The best one was their coconut-jaggery ice-cream. Though I'm not a big fan of coconut, I really loved this one and I definitely recommend it.

The other one was the tamarind ice-cream which was nice by itself, but after having the other one, it felt less than great. Also, this is more like a sorbet in consistency than an ice-cream.

A very good experience overall.
They have outside seating too which would be great for the cooler weather.
