Wok & Wrap
This is a small place in JLT (regular sized by JLT standards) that serves woks, wraps, and a bit more. I found this combination interesting, and don't remember seeing it at many places. They invited a friend of mine and I went along to try their food.
The interiors are rustic, and even the chairs are made by putting a cushion on a drum of sorts; they weren't the most comfortable thing to sit on; and were also heavy to move.
They gave us some prawn crackers to munch on as we pondered whether to customise our wok and sushi or take the pre-designed ones.
We started with the Okonomiyaki. The name might sound confusing, but it is basically a sea-food cake; something like crab cake, but with more things from the sea. One very important difference though, is that it is huge. You can have this like a whole meal. If you order it as a starter, two people can barely finish it. This one was really yummy, but a tad bit hard. Perhaps it was the huge size that made it so.
Next, we had the black pepper prawns wrap. I liked the quantity and the amount of filling, but the taste was average.
Then we decided to customise our wok. We chose the chicken as the protein, Udon as the noodles, and schezwan as the sauce. The schezwan has an authentic taste to it (and it isn't the desi flavour in case you were expecting that). This was really nice and we devoured it.
A very interesting offering here is the ability to customise your sushi. There are a wide variety of options and you will be really spoilt for choice. We made our sushi with white rice, ebi tempura, mango mayo, tobiko in uramaki form. It tasted great I must say, but then perhaps the pre-set combinations might taste even better since they're the tried and tested options.
They have milkshakes too, and we had the Twix milkshake. Served with the Twix chocolate on top, it surely gave a sugar rush at the end of our meal.
A very nice place with delicious Asian food.
