Bikanervala Courtyard

We were at Al Seef on the Eid weekend and were looking for an Indian restaurant do dine at. We found this, and though it was a bit of a walk since we were at the other end, we decided to check it out, especially since I connected with the name as I've visited the regular Bikanervala outlets before.  We went there around 9pm and thankfully got a table without waiting. By the end of our meal, there were a few customers waiting to get tables though.

The menu items here are totally different from the regular Bikanervala outlets. They have a wide range of starters, also some Chinese menu items, as well as roti-sabji. Also, it definitely feels way upmarket compared to the regular ones.

A lot of their starters looked interesting, but we finally settled for the rajwada kebab. This is made from soyabean, buts, herbs & spices. The best is the crispy papad on the outside which gives the crunchy texture. The flavour was pretty good, and it was soft on the inside, and tasted nice with the chutney.

We had a plate of dahi puri too. It had a generous amount of filling in it, and the yoghurt was cold and refreshing.

We were in the mood for some dimsums, and called for the dimsum with stew gravy. It has some sauteed minced vegetables inside, along with a stew. There was a sauce atop the dimsums, as well as one that came along with it - red, tangy, and a bit spicy. We totally loved these dimsums.

So we decided to then try the other dimsums too - pan toss dimsums. These have a similar filling inside but are pan tossed, and are coated with sauce all around. These definitely looked more appealing, and the taste was good too, but I think I liked the former ones more.

For our mains, we ordered the paneer labab-e-daar which is cottage cheese in creamy tomato & onion gravy. The quantity was quite a bit, and it had ample amount of cottage cheese in it. The paneer was soft, and the gravy was flavourful too.

We had it along with the zaatar naan which tasted okay. I was expecting it to have some more zaatar on it.

One thing which I did not like here though is that the chairs do not have lower back support. They have two types of chairs; none of which have it. We had walked a bit around Al Seef, and I would have liked something more comfortable to sit on.
