Miss Wang
Miss Wang is a small bit lively place. It has karaoke nights on Mondays and live music on every other day. Also, on Monday's they have happy hours all night.
They focus on Asian food, and also have different themed cuisines every few weeks. This time when they invited my, it was the Singapore theme, and so they had Singaporean speciality food and drinks apart from the regular menu.
We started with a few cocktails. The Marina Bay sand was with malibu, pineapple juice, and blue curacao. This one was refreshing and felt really nice.
The other one was the Singapore Sling twist and had Jack fire whiskey, lychee juice and cherry liquor. I found this one to be just okay.
For some light bites, they recommended one of their special salads - the Chow Mein Salad. This was made from cabbage, crispy noodles, celery, cranberries, orange, spring onion, and bean sprouts. This tasted healthy and I really liked the generous amount of bean sprouts in it.
Next was the Vietnamese spring roll. This isn't your ordinary spring roll, but is wrapped in rice filo and has a stuffing of prawns and glass noodles. This is served cold and the sauce served with it accentuated the flavour of this one.
Not many places have sweet potato fries, but here they did. These very big and really crispy; one of the best ones I've had and I certainly recommend it.
They've got a got selection of Japanese alcohol too, and I couldn't help but order one of the beers - the Kirin Ichiban. This one was really smooth and we enjoyed it.
With this we ordered the BBQ pork skewers. I really liked the smokey BBQ flavour that it had to it, though they could have been a tad bit softer.
We then had the street pad Thai which is rice noodles along with chicken and bean sprouts. The interesting part was that the chicken, bean sprouts, and the peanuts were separately and we could mix them as per our liking. I can say this was another one of my favourites here.
The Japanese alcohol caught our attention again, and this time it was Saké - the Japanese rice wine. We had the Gekkeikan Josen Karakuchi Honjozo one which is made from the Nihonbare variety of rice. Sake can be had warm or at room temperature, and we chose the former. It was served in an elegant black pot along with two little glasses. One sip, and we were hooked on. Don't leave without trying out some warm Sake.
For mains, we had one of Singapore's most famous dish - the Chilli Crab. The good thing was that they served it "ready out", that is deshelled, so it was easy to eat. If you love crab, this is something you must surely try out.
The other main dish was the Pork Ribs in plum sauce. They were cooked to perfection and were soft. Also, the plum sauce really brought about the taste well.
Towards the end we ordered the Spiced Mango Masti which is a vodka based drink with mango nectar, fresh lime juice, and jalapenos. I really liked this one, and the jalapenos added a hint of spice to it.
We also had one of the shooter - the After Eight. It has tia maria, Crème de menthe, and baileys. All of these form different layers, and each one has its own taste. The creme de menthe leaves a wonderful minty flavour in your mouth.
For dessert, we tried their elaichi sorbet. It was a cold and little tangy. We surely loved this one.
The waitress Karriah who was serving us was really friendly and so was Alex, who has designed many of the drinks himself.
